Individual
Individual therapy is tailored to meet your specific goals and needs. We will explore your past, attune to your present experience and build a foundation for the future self/life you envision. I blend traditional insight-oriented talk therapy with somatic and mindfulness-based approaches. Sessions are typically weekly and last fifty minutes. We will decide together what frequency and duration best fits your needs. Issues I address with individual clients include anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, family/relationship concerns, life transition, grief, low self-esteem/self-confidence, self-advocacy/self-expression, and existential inquiry.
Adolescent
My approach to working with teens gives particular care to the complex challenges that can arise during this phase of life. I work with teens struggling with social and/or academic pressure, social anxiety, family conflict, trauma/PTSD, depression, body image/self-confidence, self-advocacy/self-expression and identity exploration. Many teens often have the experience of feeling voiceless or powerless in their lives. My work with teens centers on providing a safe and open space for their unique experience and self-expression. I blend traditional talk therapy with somatic approaches, art/expressive art modalities and adolescent-focused mindfulness tools. In my work with teens, I also strive to build a close and connected relationship with parents (or primary caregivers). This might look like regular parent sessions or joint family sessions with your teen. Working together in this way helps to strengthen the family system and reinforce the important work your teen will be doing in therapy. We will decide together what format and frequency is appropriate.

Child
*Please note I do not offer custody recommendations to the court*
I work with children aged four and up. Since traditional talk therapy isn’t usually effective in working with children, my primary approach is play therapy (Learn more here).
I also include other modalities like art/expressive arts and sandplay.
My work with children always includes work with parents (or primary caregivers) and might include consultation with other close caregivers or providers in your child’s life (teachers, grandparents, pediatrician etc) as appropriate. This allows us to uncover the roots of the issue and to develop a plan, including practical tools, for meeting your child/family’s particular needs. I take the time to understand where your child is developmentally and to discover their unique strengths and capacities. Areas I address in my work with children include social skills, separation anxiety, grief, trauma, self-esteem, anger and behavioral challenges.
Family
Family therapy aims to create new ways of relating. Whether you are a parent, child, sibling or spouse, the relationships you have with your family members are often the most important, complex and challenging. As your family’s therapist, we will work together to identify the conditioned roles and dynamics that are creating distance, conflict and confusion. We may detangle generational patterns (abuse, addiction, trauma) strengthen communication, or support your family through a specific crisis like divorce or death of a loved one. Even the most loving and tight-knit families will encounter obstacles and difficulties. Within a safe and structured environment we will work to build a new foundation of understanding and family resilience. Family therapy might occur between two or more members of a family. Sessions can be lengthened (with prorated fee) when indicated/appropriate. Duration and frequency are as needed.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective, evidence-based process of treating trauma and PTSD. When we experience something traumatic or disturbing, our brain often stores the memory of the stressful incident in ways that impact our system. Our brain stores images, body sensations, emotions and thoughts about ourselves that can become expressed as our negative symptoms (fear, anxiety, depression, self-esteem). As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use a particular protocol and specialized techniques to reprocess memories that are connected to your negative symptoms. I currently offer EMDR treatment virtually to adults and older teens. Duration and frequency are as needed.
